Oscar Carney

Oscar Carney is a Yacht Broker with Great Southern Yacht Company and a Florida Licensed Yacht Broker serving Panama City, Destin, and the surrounding Emerald Coast. Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, Oscar grew up boating on Tennessee lakes and along the Gulf Coast and has maintained lifelong ties to the Panama City area. He has called Northwest Florida home for the past decade.

Oscar brings five decades of experience on the water, including 25 years in offshore powerboat racing. His hands-on background spans vessel performance and handling, marine logistics, hull maintenance, onboard systems, custom rigging, dockage, and vessel transport. That practical knowledge gives Oscar a trained eye when evaluating a boat and helps his clients better understand condition, maintenance needs, performance, and potential concerns before making important decisions.

Straightforward and detail-oriented, Oscar believes his responsibility is to protect his client’s interests—not simply close a deal. He approaches each transaction as if it were his own investment, providing candid guidance and staying closely involved from the initial evaluation and sea trial through survey, logistics, and closing. His goal is for clients to walk away with confidence in both their decision and the process that got them there. As Oscar puts it, borrowing from C.S. Lewis: “Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.”

Oscar lives in Panama City Beach and enjoys traveling by motorhome, discovering new coastal destinations, and spending time with his grandchildren. He also shares life on the Gulf Coast with his two French Bulldogs, Vinny B and Ava Grace. And despite a lifetime around boats and offshore racing, there is another side to Oscar that often surprises people: he is also a formally trained ballroom dancer.
